What is Photo Fredericton?Photo Fredericton Inc. is a non-profit photography club, whose goals are:
The general public is encouraged to attend any of our meetings. Photo Fredericton meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from September to May. The September 14, 2010 meeting will be in room GC 127, Gillin Hall, University of New Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. for 7:30 p.m. The Windsor Street entrance to Gillin Hall provides the most convenient access. All the other meetings for the 2010-2011 season will be in Room 202, Brian Mulroney Hall, Saint Thomas University. Parking for this venue is available at the corner of Montgomery and Windsor Streets. Mulroney Hall is immediately below the parking lot. The programme on the second Tuesday is devoted to learning and/or entertainment while the fourth Tuesday offers club members the opportunity to share their work by participating in "slide" competitions. Digital images, and occasionally 35mm slides, are projected for critique and judging. A variety of themes for the competitions will encourage you to look at things in a different light. If you decide to join our club, membership fees are $30 regular member, $40 family. Membership for full-time students is $10. As part of your membership to Photo Fredericton you will receive full access to this website including a personal image gallery, articles and discussions by members, and much more. Photographers of all abilities from beginners to advanced amateurs are welcomed. Photo Fredericton encourages group participation through planned photographic field trips throughout the year. Whether it is photographing hot air balloons in Sussex, walking the beaches and shores of the Bay of Fundy, photographing fishing villages and boats, or hiking up to Bald Peak to capture the scenic views of western New Brunswick, these one day and overnight field trips offer the avid photographer a chance to practice their skills in an atmosphere of comradeship and relaxation. Most club members are now using digital cameras. A few still use film, either colour or black & white negative film. Programmes are periodically arranged for those who prefer the print medium, colour or black & white. Regardless of the media one shoots, each year there are opportunities to reproduce your work in medium to large format prints for exhibition purposes. The club has an annual print exhibition at The Playhouse to showcase our work. Photo Fredericton strengthens its bond with the photographic community and general public by sponsoring special seminars by such noted photographers as Freeman Patterson and Courtney Milne. In addition, by being a member club of the Canadian Association of Photographic Art, we have been given the opportunity of hosting Camera Canada College, the premier Canadian photographic event for amateur photographers twice. $Revision: 1.7 $ $Date: 2010/09/05 16:11:28 $ Back to the start page |
