<link>http://www.photofredericton.ca/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=363</link>
<description>I am selling my Canon 85mm EF f/1.8 Lens. It is in great shape and has a couple of small dust specks inside. It comes with the front and rear caps and the optional lens hood.

Vistek sells the lens new for $589.99 and the hood for $39.99, a total of $629.98 (plus tax and shipping). I am selling mine for $500.00

It is a great portrait lens, I just have found that I don't use it all that often. I have owned it for about 2 years. I think I have the box and manual/paperwork as well.

<title>Wedding Photography Workshop Fredericton April 3 - 4</title>
<link>http://www.photofredericton.ca/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=347</link>
<description>Dear Photo Fredericton members,

I am involved in organizing a two-day photography seminar on &quot; The
Art of Wedding Photography&quot; with Master Photographer Kent Wong from
Kamloops BC. Mr. Wong is Past President of PPOC among other things
and has won many awards. You can view his work and check out his
credentials at: www.kentwong.ca

The seminar will be held April 3rd &amp; 4th at the Charlotte Arts
Centre here in Fredericton. This is a great opportunity for anyone
presently shooting weddings or thinking about getting into that
field. Mr. Wong will teach about lighting, posing and also
marketing. He will be using live models to demonstrate indoor and
&quot;on location&quot; lighting techniques.

Seating is limited so I would encourage anyone to register early to
guarantee their spot. (There is also a discount for signing up
before February 28th). Please see the attached poster (feel free
to print and display at your meetings) for more information.

The early bird discount is only a week away. However, if they
indicate that they are members of Photo Fredericton, I will extend
it to March 6th. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
questions.

Thank you.

<title>COMPETITION RULES 2008-2009</title>
<link>http://www.photofredericton.ca/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=308</link>
<description>PLEASE READ THROUGH THE RULES FOR COMPETITIONS AS THEY HAVE CHANGED FROM LAST YEAR.

The competitions rules are slightly different from last year.
Except for CAPA themed competitions the digital slide projector will be the only means to show images. For CAPA competitions the traditional slide projector will also be used. If members need help digitizing their images they should contact Robyn Shortt (rshortt at mac dot com) or Trista Michaud-Hachey (michaud2 at nbnet dot nb dot ca).

The web competition will be continued with an open theme each month.
The current standings will be posted each month.
This year ALL competitions at meetings will have a &quot;Special&quot; theme. The rules for entries and judging are basically the same as in the past:

PROJECTED IMAGE COMPETITION
1. Each member may submit up to two images each month.
2. If, by mistake, more than two images are submitted in an evening and the fact is not rectified before the judging, then the two lowest results will be recorded.
3. Images must be originally taken through a lens. Subsequent manipulation is acceptable.
4. Images must have been taken after December 31, 2006. This rule is waived for CAPA competitions.
5. Scoring will be done by a panel of three judges chosen from members in attendance.
6. Scoring for each image is on a ten point scale. It is expected that most images will be of sufficient quality that the scores will be in the top half of the scale. Judges should consider technical factors such as exposure, composition, depth-of-field, and focus, as well as artistic expression and overall impact in arriving at their score. Scratches, fingerprints, etc are downgrading features. The relative weighting of factors is up to individual judges.
7. Competition ranking is based on the total score of the best ten submissions.

RULES FOR DIGITAL FILE SUBMISSION
Digital files are to be submitted at the competition meeting. Entries may be emailed ahead of time if arrangements have been made with Andre Reinders. (andre at lightofday dot ca). All submissions MUST conform to the following rules:
1.Digital images must be easy to find and may be submitted on CD-ROM or on a USB memory drive (preferred). USB memory drives are known by various trade names - Jumpdrive, flash drive, memory stick, ...
2.Digital image files must be JPEG files.
3.The file size should be less than 2.5 megabytes.
4.The filename of the image files should be:
      YourWebsiteLoginId-1.jpg
      YourWebsiteLoginId-2.jpg
For example TristaM-01 and TristaM-02..
The files should be in the top level folder on the CD-ROM or USB drive. It would be best if the CD-ROM or USB drive were otherwise empty.
5.The image must be oriented properly. We won't rotate it.

RULES FOR SLIDE SUBMISSION
1. Every slide must bear the name of the competitor.
2. If a member cannot attend the meeting they can arrange for their submissions to be delivered by someone else.
3. Every slide must have a distinct dot near the lower, left-hand corner of the mount when the slide is correctly viewed against the light. (This will be the upper right corner when the slide is placed in the tray for projection.)

CAPA Special &quot;Themes&quot;
Again this year we will enter our Club in the Canadian Association for Photographic Art club theme competition. The CAPA competition is for both slides and digital projected images.
The special competitions will be special cases of the Projected Images competition series.
The club will submit the best six slides as its entry in each of the CAPA competitions. (With the photographer's permission, of course.) CAPA has some rules about the release of submitted entries. The six slides must be by different photographers. This means we have to have lots of entries!
October 28:   &quot;Gates&quot;
January 27:   &quot;Three of a Kind&quot;

Web Digital Photo Competiton
This competition will be held monthly and will be restricted to members of Photo Fredericton. The way it works is this:
1. You upload your photo(s) to your album making sure you give them a caption.
2. You email Trista (michaud&#050;&#064;&#110;bnet.nb.ca) telling her the captions of the photos you are entering.
3. At 10pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month she will copy all the entries to the Competitions/Month album, set the parameters on this album to allow voting and prevent commenting. She will also send a reminder email to members asking them to go look at and score the photos.
4. Scoring will be by popular vote. Vote early, vote often. Actually each member has only one score per photo. You can change it as often as you want though by clicking on the vote buttons. The last change stands. You can score your own photos if you wish.
5. Scoring continues until 3pm of the regular competition night. At this time she will reset the album properties to disallow further scoring, to allow comments, and to display the scores. Trista will announce a summary of the results at the completion meeting.
6. The cycle begins for the next month's competition.
There will be an award for the winner determined in the same way as for the regular competition. That is, the best 10 scores out of 14 possible scores

Web Competition Rules
1. Images must be originally taken through a lens.
2. Images must have been taken in the 365 days ending on the competition entry closing date.
3. Any amount of digital manipulation of images is perfectly acceptable.
4. Each month a participant can submit up to two images.
5. There is no restriction on the subject matter.
6. No late submissions will be accepted.
7. Scoring is on a ten point basis. The viewer should consider both technical and artistic merit when awarding points.

CAPA RELEASE OF IMAGES
The following is taken from the CAPA competition entry form:
The participant(s), by entering CAPA competitions or exhibitions agree to give CAPA permission to use their images at any time for CAPA non-profit exhibitions, publications, the CAPA website and promotions (excluding image modification). Images may be duplicated by any means and kept with the CAPA slide sets and archives. Entry into this exhibition implies acceptance of the above rules, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY REFUSED IN WRITING TO THE HOST of the event. CAPA recommends that the photographer obtain model or music release for both presentation and publication prior to submitting any entry. The photographer, not CAPA, will be responsible for any legal issues.
